Cleaning...Organizing...and New Discoveries...

On Friday, I took the day off from work to be with my Hubby and to strategize our health and fitness plan! Our goals were to clean out the pantry, the fridge and the freezer. Not just to do the spring clean thing....I know....I know....I'm early...anyway, our goals were to rid the house of all foods that are not good for us. That means even my Hubby's hiding places. We got up early and got started right away. First we tackled the freezer...you know my vault ~ anything in there is forgotten for me, which makes the freezer a treasure chest for my Hubby ~ He never forgets about it. So out went his sugar cookies that he loves, oh and of course, we threw out any stuff that had been in there a while. Geez time flies - can't believe how long we had some of this stuff!! I had something in there from 2010. I guess I need to clean out the freezer more often.

Then up next was the fridge. We did not really have bad stuff in there. We both checked it out and looked to see if there was anything in there that would be a stumbling block to either one of us. If we thought we would struggle with it...out the door it went!

Then we tackled the pantry. Ack I hate that space!! It was so messy and disorganized! Anyway, we again got rid of things that would hinder our clean eating. I think we got rid of about 3 bags of stuff. Mostly it was expired food or stale stuff. We both made a pact that we would not buy more food than we can eat. So wasteful!!!

Then because that was so much fun, we tackled our bedroom closet. Hubby and I both have clothes in there that are too big for us. So we decided to gather everything together so we could send it to Goodwill. We had two GIANT lawn sized garbage bags full of clothes!! Literally if you pushed together all of our clothes, that are left, it would measure about two feet of clothes. Our closet is empty!! Oh well, I guess that is the down side to losing weight....you have to buy new clothes!! HA HA HA....tee hee hee!! (Happy Dancing!!) Obviously not too bent out of shape for shopping!

While we were organizing my Hubby came across his old bicycle jersey. This one has long sleeves and is warm. It has the cool pockets in the back for water bottles. Yeah I like it!! Anyway, the last time I tried it on, it was so tight I looked like a big old yellow sausage. This jersey is a men's extra large. Since he's lost so much weight, he wanted to put it in the Goodwill pile. But I stopped him just in time...I wanted to try it on and see if it fits. I got it on and it was too big!! Oh my goodness. He had another one,   sized men's large, already in the Goodwill pile and I snagged it out and tried it on. Eureka!! It fit. Now I have a really cool, official bike jersey that looks awesome on me!! I will try and post some pictures soon!!

So that was my big discovery! Things are really truly happening! I am shrinking!! I am really excited about this because just last summer we scoured the bikes shops around town and we could not find a jersey that fits. Nothing fit in men or women's sizes. So excited to have a new jersey!!

After we got done with all of that excitement we took everything to Goodwill and then it was off to the grocery store. We loaded our cart with healthy and delicious food.

Then after that we got our Grand Daughters and played all evening. Gotta say, I was pooped by the end of the day!!

Yesterday we spent the day with my Daughter and Grand Daughters and we all went off to the pool. So much fun!!

Stay focused!

Day 107 ~ 7 Month Focus ~ Whew!

So back from vacation one day and I already feel better! Lost 1 pound of the 1.8 pounds I gained already, had a great food day yesterday, got in all my water and had a killer time with my trainer. It feels great to be back!!

Honestly could not have said that yesterday morning. In fact I just wanted to crawl back into bed and not even face the day. Instead, I got out of bed and made myself get out there and do it! So glad I did!!!

Fun thing happened while on vacation. Because I've lost more weight since last summer, I did not have any camping clothes. Really everything I have hangs and bags everywhere. Good thing huh? But the  weird is, have you ever gone shopping for camping clothes?  That's what I got to do and while I was shopping, I got to experience some feelings that I have not enjoyed since I was a kid. I remember, before all of our trips, my mom would take us shopping for new clothes. It was always a fun and joyous time. Since I've been an adult, I've never, ever relished shopping for clothes as a fun and/or a joyous time. But this past week it was and I have to say, IT WAS AMAZING!!

We went to Old Navy. Yeah me, in that store, trying on clothes and they fit. Can you even believe it? I got a pair of pants, a pair of shorts, 2 tank tops and a hoodie. The best thing ever, is I got all this for around $60. In my old lady, fat store $60 would get you a pair of pants and maybe half a shirt! So bonus! More clothes for me!!

Then another fun thing happened. While we were at the resort, I found myself walking around the pool without my cover up. Geez, I totally forgot about it. At one point, I was in line waiting to order my lunch (a healthy one of course) and I'm standing there in just my suit. When I realized what I was doing, I almost ran back to my cover up. I would have too, if the line was not so long. Since I could not leave, I just stood there, acting like it was no big deal. Me....in line with people....with just my swimsuit! Who knew I could do such a thing?

Then the other fun thing that happened was when Hubby and I went for a bike ride on Sunday. I usually wear my bike shorts and a baggy t-shirt. But I thought I would try to see what my new tank top looked like. So I get it on and I like what I see. So I went to my Hubby to get his approval.....And he said he liked it. Well that scared me and I decided to put my old baggy t-shirt back on. I wore it around for a while and I thought "What the heck", I'm going for the tank top. And I did!!

Here I am, again feeling half naked....me in just a tight tank top and bike shorts and shoes and socks. It felt great!!!!!!

So much fun. I tell you less clothes is really freeing. I remember when I was heavier the yards and yards of fabric that it took to cover this body was almost suffocating and quite heavy. So much fun now to wear smaller clothes.

OK enough about me. How are you doing?

Keep focused!

Day 50 - 7 Month Focus

Thanks to all who commented yesterday. I was having such a hard day and your love and support helped me make it through.
Today is a better day!!

Going to talk about some random stuff....

Stuff about me...
  • On Sunday, I went through my closet again and weeded out all of the clothes that do not fit me. Kind of bitter sweet, because now I'm starting to get rid of my skinnier clothes. I am sad because some of the things I REALLY like. Oh well, off to the Rescue Mission they go.
  • Last night I had my session with my personal trainer and some very scary thoughts started to creep back into my mind. She wanted me to do these push up things on a workout bench. I had to put the palms of my hands on the bench, by legs straight out on the floor, crossed at the ankle and then she wanted me to lower and raise my suspended hiney up and down. Like some sort of strange  push up. Well OK I can do that, but here's the scary part, she was on the same side of the bench with me and she wanted to do it together. First of all, being a former fatty, OK I'm still fat, but former morbidly obese person I started to worry that we would break the bench or we would topple it over. Nope...we both did it without any problems. Bench in tact!! Whew!
  • Feeling so much better today. I have hope, energy and excitement for this new day!
Other stuff...
  • What are your thoughts about Aspartame?
  • How come I can never spell the work probably. I use this word frequently and I always get it wrong. Makes me crazy!
  • Thinking about doing a Summer Bucket List again. It was quite successful last year and I got a lot of things done. Might work on that today!
