Health & Fitness Journey Continues....

January 1st starts my 3rd year of my health and fitness journey and I'm still fired up and excited! I can't believe it!!! Never would have believed that I'd still be here at this time. I have never been this focused on my health ~ ever!!

Things I've accomplished these past 2 years...

  • Lost 70 pounds
  • Gone from sized 24-26 clothes to sized 14-16 ~ sneaking into 14's!! Shirts used to be XXL, now I can fit into my daughters medium sweaters.
  • I actually shop at more than one clothing and shoe stores. Possibilities are endless.
  • I exercise 4-6 days per week. I can walk for miles.....At one point, when I was so heavy, I had trouble walking from my car to the mall entrance. No endurance! I have participated in five 5k's and one 10k so far ~ running and walking! The last 5k I ran the whole thing without stopping!
  • I can run with my Grandbabies!
  • My life went from feeling almost bed bound with limited possibilities to a whole world of things to do.
  • I track my food and calories. Still doing it - Never thought I could be so disciplined!
  • Drink tons of water. Now I crave it like crazy!
  • I don't fear that I will break chairs and/or furniture. I don't fear that I won't fit in a booth or theater chair. I am anxious about the airplane seat (I'm going to Austin next week). I have not been on a plane for a long time, so I can't wait to see how it goes!
  • I actually got a coat for Christmas and it fit. That never happens. I always had to take things back. After a while, my poor Hubby quit buying me clothes for Christmas. Too disappointing.
So I'm looking forward to 2012. I have so many tools in my toolbox. I've been through this a while. I know what to expect from myself and my body. I know I can do better and push harder and this year, I am ready to do just that!!!

I am ready to jump in.  NO MORE FEAR!!!

How about you.....are you ready to get this done?

Keep focused!!!

  1. Great accomplishments, Joy! You've come such a long way, and with your great attitude, you'll see the finish line!

  2. WOW!!! I was going to say, keep at it, but I know you will without me saying so. So maybe the only thing I can add is that whenever you feel discouraged, just look at how much you have accomplished.

  3. No... Joy... YOU are the amazing one! YOU are an inspiration!
    Live Pretty !

  4. You are giving yourself a wonderful gift that will go on and on.

Wonder what exciting things you will do this year. I am so impressed that you did the 5 k and Ran it too.

We really are in for a year of accomplishment.

  5. Awesome job!!!! Look at that list - so many good things and more then just the scale telling you - love your NSV!!! Here's to a swell Two Thousand and Twelve!

  6. I love this post! You have accomplished a ton! I love that you can run with your grandbabies. I'm excited you get to go on a plane. How fun will that be. I'm grateful that I could share two of those 5k experiences with you!! You are amazing!

    Take care!

  7. Hi Joy, I just found your blog and I wanted to say 70 pounds is a great achievement. I know how hard it is, trust me, because I am on a weight loss journey too. I also blog about it so stop by sometime.

  8. What a fantastic list of accomplishments Joy!! Well done and congratulations :)

  9. I got a coat for Christmas too. I realized a few months ago that I was wearing capes because I thought they camouflaged things. I think this is the first coat I've had in about 8 years.

  10. Wow you are my new hero! 70 pounds lost is awesome! You definitely have some tips and tricks to share. Keep up the great work!

  11. Happy New Year! What a remarkable list, joy. You HAVE come so far. Isn't it just terrific how once we really get going nothing stops us?? That is you, my friend. Can't wait to see you bust through some more hurdles this year. Michele

  12. I needed a good coat and I bought two from Amazon that I really like. Since I WILL be smaller the coats are a large rather X-large and are a bit too small to wear. I am going to keep them. I would like to wear them yet this year but will definitely be able to wear them next winter. I couldn't see paying money for something that fits now when I will be smaller and they will be too big. They will be my motivation because I really want to wear them.

  13. Good Morning!!! Great job and here's to continued success!! I've been on my life changing journey since Dec 2009...which seems crazy to me but I'm very thankful that I am still on this journey (so much to still learn!). Take care and chin up! :O)

  14. Hey have a very old photo up there on your blog..have you thought of replacing it? I would love to see the 'new' you. And Yes, I am ready to go...the most ready I have been in forever. Keep focused.
